...and welcome to my rather cheaply made website. I'm Paul Richards; I am a Cambridge (UK) based musician, playwright, terrible actor, journalist, arty kind of chap etc, etc. I gig a fair bit with plenty of nice bands, write a fair bit for plenty of nice actors, and every now and then tour a solo-ish show.
As a drummer/percussionist I have been fortunate enough to have played venues all around the country (tours, festivals etc) alongside literally hundreds of gigs here in Cambridge. I've also been lucky enough to have recorded in some top-notch studios, notably The Dairy (London), High Barn (Essex), The Sickrooms (Norfolk) and Half Ton Studios (Cambridge). Credits include drumming on an iTunes Single Of The Week, a FATEA award-winning EP and nationwide radio airplay including BBC 6Music coverage. I've played (and am still playing with!) with some really good musicians over the last few years, playing everything from heavy rock to silky jazz, from duos to full choirs, small acoustic gigs to full-scale musicals, long may this continue, hurrah!
As a writer I've seen my work performed across all the UK, with 7 Edinburgh Fringe shows under my wing and 4 Brighton Fringe runs, The Buxton Fringe Festival, WriteBites @ RADA (London), The Hotbed Festival (Cambridge), Welywn Drama Festival, The Hen & Chickens Theatre (London), The Brockley Jack Theatre (London), Contact Theatre (Manchester), Clerkenwell Theatre (London) and plenty of Cambridge performances all propping up my CV. I was a bursary writer for Menagerie Theatre a good few years back, have written for radio and have had plenty of my material published both here in the UK and in Canada, which is nice. Many of my plays are available to purchase for very cheap from Production Scripts. I am also the Director Of Theatre for Lodestar Festival, which is a lovely event, and co-founder of Fat Fox Productions.
This website is here to keep you informed of my latest schemes, hopes and plans. If you care, of course. There's a full creative CV on this site, and latest gigs, and links and stuff if you're interested, feel free to get in touch if you need a drummer, playwright etc, you know the drill. I am very friendly.
Thanks for looking...
